Annie Palone

Annie is our lead designer and a creative strategist par excellence.

She has a wealth of experience across a broad range of disciplines – from landscape and urban design, to writing, editing, research, photography, graphic design, marketing, visual communications, and throughout the world of local, organic food (in gardens, farms, farmers’ markets, caterers', and restaurants). Annie is a maker of gardens, pickles, websites, paintings, and multi-course meals...

An expert on holistic sustainable design, her 2014 handbook on Child Friendly Urbanism explores urban design strategies at three scales of intervention (in play places, housing, and ecodistricts) based on the maxim that truly sustainable design and development must prioritize healthy children

Annie’s long-standing interests in anthropology, human geography, place-making, genius loci, and the stories people tell about the places they live, inform her approach to regenerative design for ecologically and socially resilient gardens, neighbourhoods, and cities.
